Our Community

Purpose and Culture

First United Methodist Church of Downtown Erie, founded in 1826, has a long, proud history of serving the diverse community of Erie and its surrounding areas. Our building, erected in 1859 and expanded throughout the years, is the oldest church in Erie County. Through the dedication of our leadership, pastors, and volunteers, we are committed to sharing our passion for Jesus Christ with Erie’s next generations. We welcome worshippers of all ages, perspectives, and backgrounds, and we strive to lead all who worship toward a deeper love and appreciation for God.
